Fowey River Antiques has dated this piece to the 1880s.
It came from an important castle estate sale in Scotland and was probably purchased from new.
These are incredibly rare and I have never seen such examples.
They are particularly fine, on the outside of the back rests there is a beautifully painted dragonfly and on in the inside a flower.
One has the DANMARK dating it to between 1880 and 1900 and the other seven the stamp of Royal Copenhagen with the three lines dates them to between 1889 and 1922 after which the stamp changed.
They of first quality with no scratch through the three lines to indicate it is a second.
There are no chips, cracks and no restoration has been undertaken.
Each measures 5 inches high and 3.5 inches wide.
