London Fine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1750s.
Presented in antique condition.
One drop handle loop bar is missing. There are running repairs to the fall flap. There are areas of loose and missing veneer. The cock-beading on some of the drawer edges has been damaged. The baize writing area is scruffy.

The bureau does, however, have a very desirable fitted interior with serpentine drawers, a central cupboard, slide out false bookends, quality craftsmanship and a central well with slide access.
The bureau can be used in the condition that it is now and will make a fine addition to any home.

It is very solidly crafted with oak lined drawers, strong dovetails and heavy construction. Free of live woodworm and of classic proportions. A rare find with such a nice interior fitting.
A perfect example of practicality and good design with traditional craftsmanship delivering a piece which will still be desirable in another two centuries time.

A classic English antique bureau with huge charm, history and warmth.
