Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An antique equestrian engraving is a print created by incising a design onto a metal plate, transferring the image to paper, and often finishing it with hand-applied watercolour. These works typically document horse racing, fox hunting, and equine portraiture from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

Nineteenth-century sporting prints were predominantly printed on handmade rag paper using oil-based inks. Techniques such as aquatint or steel engraving allowed for fine tonal gradation, which was frequently enhanced by colourists using watercolour washes.

Authentic antique engravings exhibit a plate mark, which is a distinct indented rectangular border created by the pressure of the printing plate against the paper. Examination under magnification will reveal continuous hand-painted watercolour strokes or fine cross-hatching rather than modern dot-matrix printing patterns.

Equine prints can be hung in symmetrical pairs or grid layouts above a sideboard, mantelpiece, or along a hallway. Framing them in clean, modern mouldings or classic dark wood frames allows them to complement both traditional and contemporary design schemes.

Display paper prints away from direct sunlight and moisture to prevent fading and foxing. Ensure the artwork is mounted using acid-free materials and protected behind UV-filtering glass to preserve the paper and original hand colouring.
