Magnificent Antique French Inlaid Jewellery Box C.1850

Description

Certainly one of the grandest and most opulent Jewelry boxes I have come across in some time, quite stunning.

The box is made from Rosewood with Satinwood panels inlaid with Harewood spirals framed with Kingwood flanked with early blue composition "stones" to emulate Turquoise set in Partridgewood.

Both the base and the domed lid are trimmed in polished brass mounts. The top of the lid is set with a bronzed French plaque with a complimentary metallic escutcheon housing the working key.

The interior is totally original, lined in a cream silk in excellent original condition (a pencil mark to the lid fabric).

Magnificent in every way ... in superb condition. 11" x 8 1/2" x 5 1/2".
