Antique Set English Sterling Silver & Mother of Pearl Fruit Knives & Forks - 1896

Description

A stunning set of Victorian fruit knives & forks, made from sterling silver with beautiful and highly decorative sterling silver ferrules.

The handles are made from bright iridescent Mother of Pearl or Nacre shell, a beautiful combination with the silver.

The sterling is attractively engraved with an English Design Registration number of 221148 for the year 1893. All pieces are also fully hallmarked for Sheffield 1896 with the makers initials A & D for Allen & Darwin of Arundel Street, Sheffield.

The set comes complete in their original solid Oak presentation box, measuring 9" x 6" x 2". The knives measure 7 1/2" long and the forks measure 6" long. Excellent condition. Usually found in silver plate, lovely to have this set in solid antique sterling. Consists of six knives and six forks.
