~ French - Circa 1870 ~
~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~
It is of waisted keyhole shape, decorated with elaborate foliate scrolls, acanthus shoulders and 'C' scrolls. To the top is a large 'urn of plenty' with flowers and fruit and it stands on its original integral base with boldly scrolling feet. There are sound frets to all four sides backed with red velvet that help to lighten the design. The clock is modelled in the round and would therefore display very nicely on a table.

The dial is cream enamel on copper with blue hour letters and a separate minute ring. The finely fretted brass hands are original as is the convex bevelled glass fitted to the Rococo bezel.
The French movement is by A. D. Mougin and is of high quality as one would expect. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent, beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. We have replaced the red velvet. The dial is also in excellent condition just some tiny nibbles next to the winding holes.

About us - All of our clocks are original antiques, we source most of our clocks in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK. We prefer to buy our clocks in original 'dirty' condition. We then clean the cases using a technique we have developed over many years. We employ two qualified clockmakers who overhaul the movements. Movements are thoroughly tested until we are satisfied that they will run trouble free.
