Unusual and Lucky - Antique English Wishbone Toast Rack with Butter Dish - 1897

Description

A really special piece for the breakfast table, this late Victorian novelty toast rack in silverplate is made up from a series of cast Wishbones including one central large one creating an integral handle.

The shaped base sits on four ball feet and houses a central circular glass butter dish. The underside is marked with the silversmith's initials and is lucky enough to have an English design registration number for the year 1897.

This stylish and unusual piece would equally look at home on a desk-top with stationery, business cards and other small ephemera.

Excellent condition, the frame measures 6 1/4" x 4 3/8" x 5" tall and the diameter of the glass butter dish measures 3 1/2".
