Antique English Satinwood Sewing Box with Brass Mounts C.1840

Description

A wonderful piece of exotic Satinwood was used to create this highly decorative sewing box dating to around 1840, very early Victorian.

The box is beautifully decorated with cast brass mounts with floral and foliate detailing.

The interior is fitted with a blue silk lining, the paper was very worn and has been replaced with an appropriate hand-marbled example in a contrasting blue colour.

Complete with a working key, the box remains in excellent condition, measuring 10" x 6 3/4" x 4 1/2".
