A Superb 32 Drawer, Victorian Mahogany Collectors Cabinet Circa 1870

19th century
Description

This really is a very handsome 32 drawer victorian mahogany butterfly collectors cabinet with astragal glazed doors and a fine finish and patina.

The cabinet dates from around 1870 and is unusual for the detail of the doors which are glazed with oval panels of glass. The effect is very appealing and rather reminiscent of manor house and country vicarage drawing rooms of the period.

The cabinet was originally used for the protection and display of a butterfly collection but would be ideal for a multitude of other collectables, perhaps medals in particular.

The drawers would benefit from re-papering and this is a service that I am able to carry out to the very highest standard if so required.

Many more photographs are available.

Dimensions.

Height. 47 inches.

Width. 42 inches.

Front to back. 18.75 inches.

Drawers.

Width. 18.75 inches.

Overall depth. 2 inches. (imperial pin depth).

All questions and enquiries are welcome and if viewing is required I am able to make arrangments for customers to stay at the unique location of hartland quay hotel where a preferential rate is available for visitors to our dedicated showroom in hartland village.

Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
