Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1900s.
The shaped base is made from solid Mahogany, with the balance signed by the London maker, T.J. Smith, Son & Downes. They are also stamped "Warranted Accurate".
The right-hand pan is engraved with the postal rates during the late Victorian and Edwardian era. The scale has a good set of brass weights.
Excellent condition having been professionally re-polished to gleam. The base measures 7 1/2" x 4 3/4" and stands 4" tall.
