Stunning Top-notch Antique English Centrepiece - Cockatoo - Registration for 1871

Description

A simply wonderful and rare figural centerpiece, tazza or comport, the base beautifully cast in silver plate, complete with it's original glass bowl sitting on top.

The base has a handsome Cockatoo in the centre and sits on three feet each with a small winged bird in flight with the feet creating a ball and claw foot.

The molded glass bowl is totally original, undamaged and beautifully decorated with a Greek Key design and partially frosted.

The quality of the base is simply superb, and to top that comes complete with an English design registration diamond, enabling us to date the registration of this piece to May 16th 1871; always a highly sought-after addition to any English collectible.

Superb condition, standing 9 3/4" tall with the glass having a diameter measuring 8".
