Antique English Brass Figural Desk Bell - Bicycle - Penny Farthing C.1880

Description

A rare and quite fabulous desk or counter bell made from brass and in the form of a Victorian Penny Farthing bicycle.

The base is made from a wood and covered in solid English brass and the bicycle mounted to the base.

The bell is rung with one's index finger being used to move around the spokes of the large wheel which rings the bell .. really charming.

Excellent condition (there is some solder evident where the saddle attaches the cycle, insignificant but mentioned for accuracy); the base measures 8 1/3" x 5 1/2" and stands 6 1/2" tall, the large wheel of the Penny Farthing has a diameter measuring 5 1/2" in diameter. A new piece of green baize has been fitted to the underside for furniture protection.
