London Fine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1880s.
A lovely Victorian mahogany & walnut reading stand by Leveson & Sons presented in superb condition.
1870-1915 and specialized in quality mechanical furniture.

This quality piece provides bi-directional tilt with generous height adjustment allowing the piece to be used either for reading/writing purposes when seated, or as a lectern when standing. The book-stop slip fits to either side of the reading surface.

The heavily constructed central column features a robust dog tooth with cast iron catch. The banjo shaped base rides over original castors.
It is in great order throughout and makes a very pleasing and versatile item of antique furniture.

A stunning example and much in demand when of this quality, as determined by the £1625 realized for a near identical piece by Leveson & Sons at Christie's, London in March 2012 - see link for the full details of the sale
