Pair Antique English Brass Blackamoor Candlesticks C.1872

Description

A fabulous and most unusual pair of Victorian Blackamoor candlesticks cast in heavy English brass.

The boy holds two torches and stands on a plinth with integral birds that look like Swans, and standing on Lion's paw feet.

What makes this pair special is the presence of an English registration diamond stamped to the top of each plinth. Unfortunately hard to read but in this format date the sticks between 1871 - 1879 possibly withe the date letter I for the year 1872.

Excellent condition having been professionally re-polished to gleam, each stands 9 1/4" tall with a base measuring 4 1/2" square.
