London Fine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1850s.
This piece benefits from a gorgeous depth of grain and colour throughout.

It is in great order and is a strong and solid example. The robust look of the chair with its' sturdy turned parts, pierced back-splat and wide arm hoop is typical of the style and makes for a very pleasing chair.

With a generous 44cm seat height the chair makes an ideal choice as a daily use piece. The turned and tapered legs are united by a double H-stretcher for a really robust base.
Overall an excellent example and wonderfully comfortable too. A classic English country chair and a rare item in this condition.

This chair will make a lovely addition to any setting and is ready to give another 160 years of service.
