Handsome Antique English Cut Crystal & Silver Plated Claret Jug C.1880

Description

A wonderful English Victorian Claret Jug with a beautiful cut crystal body in the ever-popular Hobnail design, these cut panels are interspersed with convex fluted ridges running up the side.

The top and handle are made from English silver plate, with a beautiful pierced or reticulated panel running down the back of the jug meeting the base of the handle .. lovely quality detailing.

The collar is beautifully engraved as is the hinged lid, the figural spout features a mythical figure.

Dating to around 1880, this fine example remains in excellent condition and is ready for use. 11" tall with a base diameter measuring 4 1/4".
