A superb Regency penwork games box. The box of elegant, slim, sarcophagus shape, stands on the original gilt brass feet and has the original hoop handles also in gilt brass. The decoration around the edge is typical penwork with fruiting vines, and scrolls, but the top scene is a very unusual one of an Indian prince on his elephant with attendants. The interior retains much of it''s originality although it may have had later lining paper, the playing card section lids are all original and each has an individual oriental penwork scene.
