Florence Blanche Cains, Watercolour Still Life

Description

Florence Blanche Cains (born 1905) A watercolour still life, titled 'In the Studio no.1', signed lower left on the artists palette. In original Frost & Reed exhibition frame with framing label. The reverse bears various labels including one for an exhibition at the The Royal Institute Galleries, 101 Piccadilly, London.

This watercolour epitomises the 1960s with a Robin Day Polyprop chair central to the composition, variously scattered with copies of Studio International magazine and a VAT 69 bottle.

Florence Blanche Cains, a Bristol artist, studied at the school of art 1922-27, specialised in calligraphy and embroidery and head of deaprtment at St George Grammar School, Bristol. She was a member of SWA and exhibited widely at RA, RI and RWA.
