Handsome French Walnut Tea Caddy with Brass Mounts C.1880

Description

A stunning Victorian tea caddy, French in origin and made from Walnut with a cross-banded edge surrounding the domed lid.

The warm cognac coloured Walnut is mounted with a plethora of brass mounts, beautifully engraved.

The inteior is lined in glass like many French caddies of this age, the bottom has a later leather type insert. The lid and edges are finished in Rosewood, the lid again beautifully decorated with brass mounts and knob to remove.

This stunning gem comes complete with a working key. Excellent condition, measuring 6" x 5" x 4 1/2".
