Description

A striking antique English table box made from Papier Mache around 1850, the top beautifully painted with a very atmospheric scene of Tintern Abbey in the moonlight with inlaid Mother of Pearl adding some iridescent light. Signed in the bottom right-hand corner "Tintern Abbey".

The border to the lid and sides is lavishly decorated with gilding with blue red and white enamelling.

The box has been re-lined in a hand made Italian paper to create a clean and fresh interior ready for use. The interior edges are beautifully gilded. 9" x 5 3/4" x 2"
