Castleforge Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1860s.
It has three further drawers to each pedastal above a turned spindle frame with turned bobbin finial. It stands on ring turned legs on castors. The desk has panelled sides joined by a single stretcher and all of the drawers are mahogany lined with original gilt brass handles.

The matching chair has has reeded side supports and with a turned spindle top rail above its original upholstered back rest and stuff over seat with shaped frieze below with turned spindle supports and standing on ring turned legs joined by squared stretchers.

The desk measures: 29" high x knee height 23.5" x 21" deep x 42" wide
The chair measures: 33" high x seat height 16.5" x 18" deep x 17" wide
It has its 'partial' paper label with design number.
Marsh Jones & Cribb were important furniture makers in Leeds in a similar league to Gillows of Lancaster specializing in Medieval or Gothic Revival furniture, they made from C1865 under licence to Charles Bevans his famous 'New Registered reclining chair' & Bevan designed for them until C1867. M.J & C made all the furniture for the marital home of Titus Salt Junior in Basildon near Saltaire & also made furniture to the designs of Bruce Talbert. W.R. Lethaby became their top designer in the 1880's.
