Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1890s.

This one was gifted to a Miss E C Marks of Fulham, London in 1904.
The lid opens to reveal the wonderful red leather lining lucky enough to have a gold embossed English design registration number 173368 for the year 1891. The interior of the lid retains the Ivory paper knife, pen and pencil.

The fall front opens to reveal the fitted interior with the original red leather desk blotter being stored in the rear compartment. The box is divided into multiple compartments with Oak dividers, a brass topped glass inkwell and two drawers below. The metal fittings to the front would have housed paper calendar cards, this could now be used to store paper note pads or something similar.

The folded down writing slope has two original gold embossed red leather skivers both in beautiful condition.
A beautiful original box in lovely condition. The lid measures 11 1/2" x 6 1/2" x 7 1/2" tall.
