Antique English Sterling Silver Hip or Liquor Flask with Drinking Cup - 1900

Description

A wonderfully handsome Victorian hipflask made from sterling silver together with a removable drinking cup.

Combined this is a hefty piece of silver, weighing 7.63 Troy Ounces or 237.3 Grams.

It has a lovely tactile kidney shape, made to fit easily into the pocket. The cup fits perfectly and once removed reveals a lavishly gilded interior. The cap is a bayonet type fitting requiring a twist and lift action to open, revealing a cork lining to prevent evaporation of the precious contents.

The hallmark is for Birmingham 1900 together with the makers initials H H for the silversmith, H Hayes.

A good size, measuring 5 3/4" tall x 3 1/8" wide.
