Grand Early 19th Century Dutch Decanter Box - Shell Inlaid - Gilded Decanters

Description

A stunning and impressive Mahogany decanter box standing on four small brass feet with exquisite and highly decorative inlay with a large shell to the top, two shells to the front and a shell to either side panel.

The four sides are inlaid with Ebony and Boxwood geometric stringing creating a frame to these decorative shells.

The interior retains the original paper lining and fitted dividers holding the six decanters. There is one replacement decanter, slightly smaller (see photos) but works perfectly; one other has a period stapled repair to the neck. The shoulders of the decanters are beautifully decorated with gilded detail.

The box comes with a tasselled key for display purposes only, the lock is not working.

A striking box and an impressive size, measuring 11" x 7 1/4" x 9 3/4" tall, each decanter measuring 3" x 3" x 6 3/4" tall to top of stopper.
