Exquisite English William IV Sterling Silver Filigree Card Case - 1836

Description

A wonderful early antique English visiting card case in an absolutely exquisite design with pierced or reticulated decoration, chased work and central filigree panels.

The hinge is in perfect working condition and the lid fits well .. wonderful for a case over 175 years old.

The sterling silver used is a good heavy gauge weighing in at 1.95 Troy Ounces or 60.5 Grams.

There is a clear hallmark for Birmingham 1836 together with the makers initials T & P for the silversmiths, Joseph Taylor and John Perry. Excellent condition measuring 3 15/16 x 2 3/8", fits my business card which measures 3 3/8" x 1 15/16".
