Antique Scottish Mauchline Postal Ruler - Usk C.1880

Description

Made in the Scottish town of Mauchline during the Victorian era as souvenirs, this one was clearly made to be sold in the town of Usk in Wales.

A lovely example of a cylindrical ruler with eight "English Inches" and just over 20 "French Centimetres". The front of " The Postal Ruler " lists rates for Letter Post, Newspapers, Books, Printed Papers and Circulars, Telegrams, Money Orders, Postal Orders and Bill Stamps.

The reverse side shows a scene of Usk.

Excellent condition with a few minor age blemishes, measuring 8 3/4" long including black ebonised terminals.
