Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1880s.

This one is unusually made from Amboyna, the most expensive timber in the world and comes in small pieces, note the two pieces used on the back, not a repair but totally original.
The top is inlaid with a magnificent large and majestic Clipper ship and another smaller, to the right is the headland with the lighthouse watching over.

The interior of the lid retains it's original paper and the two lids are made from Mahogany. There was a brass tea caddy spoon (later) that was in the caddy when we purchased it, so I have left it with the box.
A stunning example in excellent condition measuring 9 1/2" x 4 3/4" x 5 1/4" tall. Complete with working tasseled key.
