Large George IV Brass Bound Rosewood Jewellry, Table or Desk Box C.1825

Description

This magnificent box has been given a new lease of life, it went to our restorers with a broken interior and a couple remnants of silver fittings dated 1827, enabling us an accurate date for this stunning box made from exotic Rosewood.

This large and heavy box is beautifully bound in polished brass and inlaid with brass stringing. There is a shield shaped vacant plaque to the top and a shaped inlaid brass escutcheon to the front. The lock is Bramah, a sign of true quality and comes with it's original Bramah key, in working order.

The interior has been relined in a hand-marbled paper creating a clean, fresh finish ready to use for whatever you wish, a very usable box for a variety of purposes.

Superb condition, measuring 13 3/4" x 10 1/4" x 6" tall.
