Secretaire Chest - Flame Mahogany Veneer - c1870
This French marble top bureau chest is a splendid example. It is presented in superb antique condition.

Standing upon a continuous plinth the bureau rises through a trio of flush fronted drawers. These display flame mahogany veneering to the fronts and are constructed with top quality oak linings as befits the quality of the whole antique.

A fall front opens to reveal a class interior with serpentine frieze above an interior display shelf and seven oak-lined & dovetailed drawers. The writing surface benefits from a tooled & embossed skiver. The working area is well supported by a pair of pierced quarter-moon solid brass hinges providing a robust desk area at a lovely 71cm (28") working height.

Within the crown moulding there is a further top drawer below a marble top.
Overall this piece of furniture is in excellent order and will make a beautiful feature in any location.
