Booth of Dublin Twin Fusee Dropdial Wall Clock

Description

A quality Irish twin fusee dropdial wall clock. A rosewood case with finely pierced mother of pearl inlays. The original side carvings. A brass surround to the visible pendulum aperture. A brass bezel surround to the 12" painted dial. A twin fusee mechanism striking the hours on a bell. Striking fusee mechanisms on dropdial wall clocks are much rarer.

James Booth of Dublin worked at 51 Chapel Street from 1823. His son James (jnr) worked at Nassau Street from 1868 and the business continued through to the 1950's. This example dates to circa 1875.
