Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1750s.

The front has a little brass ring pull on a silver back plate to open the lid. The escutcheon is also silver mounted leading down to a silver mounted shield shaped mount. The box comes with a tasselled key.

The interior is an absolute joy, retaining the complete fitted interior, and the interior of the lid beautifully inlaid.
A real beauty in excellent condition, the footprint measuring 9 1/2" wide x 11 1/2" deep x 15" tall at rear.
