A Stunning French gilt brass clock set by the famous maker Japy Freres. The style is French gothic with C scrolls, flowing foliage, a goddess mask and shields with vacant cartouches. To the side of the dial there are stylised flaming torches. Clock case is of waisted shape with fretted front, broken arch above the dial and sitting on a base with scroll feet. Five light candelabra are conforming and are complete with snuffers.

Gilding is in excellent original condition, bright and fresh with hardly any wear or discolouration. Dial is enamel on copper and is complete with the original blued steel hands.

The Japy Freres French movement is of excellent quality, runs for 8 days and strikes half-hourly on a bell. Backplate has the clockmakers mark. It is in very good clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker and is compete with original pendulum. Click the movie below to see and hear the movement working!

Condition of the case is very good with clean and bright gilding. One candelabra has an old repair to the back leg and a sconce repaired, both of which are hardly noticeable. Candelabra arms are very slightly distorted. The enamel dial is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips. The set displays very well as you can see in the pictures below.

Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
