and Brass
Table Clock Set
~ French - Circa 1890 ~
~~ Excellent condition ~~
A superb clock set by the famous maker Japy Freres. It is Classical in style, the clock has four ebonised corner columns with pineapple finials, a heavy base with acanthus leaves and is surmounted by an urn with swags, Reynolds's angles and a flaming torches finial.
The dial has an ebonised wood back with a fretted brass decoration inset with 12 individual enamel cartouches and the original silver steel hands. Both the front and rear bezels are glazed with convex glass, the rear allowing the movement to be seen.

The clock set is modelled in the round and therefore would display very well on a table.
The Japy Freres movement is of this makers usual high quality. It runs for 8 days and strikes half hourly on a bell and is complete with a replacement pendulum and bell. It has been fully overhauled by our clock maker and is in excellent working order. Click the movie below to hear the gong and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent with no losses and the clock has a lovely clean and bright finish. The dial is also in excellent condition with just a small chip on the number 4 cartouche.
Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.

An unusual and highly decorative Japy Freres Clock Set, ready for display!
