A large and beautiful impressionist oil on canvas by Esther Ellerman, dated 1937. It is in its original swept frame which is in very good condition, ready to hang.

Esther Ellerman was wife to one of the richest men of the time, Sir John Ellerman, the subject of the Sunday Times Magazine article The lost tycoon, see below. She painted under the pen name of Ellen de Streuve and exhibited her paintings in galleries around the country. The reverse of this painting has a part label.

Condition of the painting is excellent and clean. The frame is original and is also in very good condition with just some slight knocks.
