Rare Set 12 Antique English Plates by Elkington in Silver Plate - Dated 1897

Description

A fabulous and stylish set of six decorative plates, each measuring 10" in diameter or 25 cms, perfect to sit smaller dinner plates on or perhaps glass dishes or plates ... very glamorous and showy. A rare opportunity to get a set of twelve, these rarely come along.

Each is created in the George III style with gadrooned border but date to the Victorian period, with the date letter L for the year 1897. 11 of the plates have the identical Elkington marks and one a different mark G.G. Honour & Son, London ... I am assuming this one has been carefully matched or possibly stamped with the retailer's name .. mentioned purely for accuracy. The last photo of two plates show one marked Elkington and the other with the alternative mark.

All in excellent condition.
