Rare English Regency Chinoiserie Penwork Visiting Card Case C.1820

Description

Not often found and highly sought-after, this is a most attractive Penwork visiting card case dating to the Regency period, around 1820.

One side has a figural Chinoiserie scene and the other an intricate floral and foliate design surrounding the original monogram.

The interior held a penwork panel (presumably stored by the last owner)when I purchased this card case, and I have left it inside for the next owner. The panel features an Armorial Crest with the motto "Virtute non verbis" meaning by virtue, not by words.

Excellent condition, measuring 3 1/4" tall x 2 3/4" wide.
