Rare Antique English Novelty Silver Plated Cruet or Condiment Set - Car - C.1900

Description

A really fabulous late Victorian figural cruet or condiment set dating to around 1900, reflecting the automobiles of this era.

The frame is shaped like a car with the wheels actually moving, this would have been "wheeled" along the table. Made from silver plate, the side of the frame is marked EPNS for Electro Plated Nickel Silver.

All four pieces of glass are in excellent condition, each with silver plated fittings; two bottles for vinegar and oil, a mustard pot (no spoon) and a pepperette ... salt was usually served in open table salts.

A wonderful piece in excellent condition. 7 1/4" long including lamp at front, 4" wide x 8 1/2" tall to top of bottle stopper. Minor wear to plate.
