Joyce Whitchurch Longcase Clock

Description

A Shropshire oak longcase clock. Choice timbers and good patination to the golden oak case. A swan-neck hood pediment with brass patterae and central finial. Turned hood and trunk side columns. A circular painted dial with blued steel hands. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.

The Joyce family are well known and documented clockmakers of Whitchurch. Thomas is recorded in Elloit's 'Shropshire Clockmakers' book as working from 1822-1861.

Height 7ft 4" / 221 cms
