Magnificent Large Antique English Sterling Silver Baby's Rattle & Whistle - Coral Handle - 1847

Description

A fabulous early baby's rattle, a real heirloom collectible for the new addition in your family.

A good large example measuring 6" in length with a total of ten bells. The body is beautifully engraved all over and still retains the original presentation engraving on the mouthpiece of the whistle, " Sophia R from her uncle T.N.R. 7th 11Mo 1854.

Clearly this was gifted in 1854 but made even earlier with a full English hallmark for Birmingham 1847. The makers initials are also present T & P for the silversmiths Joseph Taylor and John Perry; the highly desirable Queen Victoria's head mark is also present.

A real gem in excellent condition.
