Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1900s.
The hinged lid opens to reveal a smaller removable ink chamber which makes it easy to refill with small amounts of ink and clean.
Both base and lid are hallmarked with the makers initials J.G & S for the highly regarded silversmith, John Grinsell & Co. The underside is even stamped with the original retailer's signature " Page, Keen & Page, Plymouth ".
Top quality in excellent condition, measuring 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" and standing 1 1/2".
