Antique French Palais Royale Sewing Box in Burr Yew - 800 Silver Contents C.1840

Description

A charming little Palais Royale sewing box, beautifully shaped and standing on four ball feet, the underside retaining an original label.

The box is made from Burr Yew with it's beautiful nutty colour & highly decorative burl markings. The lid is finished with white metal pins and a swing handle.

The fitted tray is filled with German made steel tools finished with silver handles marked 800 (for 800 silver rather than the sterling 925), there is also a silver thimble and needle case.

The box comes complete with a taselled key which fits into the oval Mother of Pearl escutcheon to the front. A charming box in excellent condition, the lid measuring 6 3/8" x 4 1/4" x 2 5/8" tall.
