The original brown leather writing surface with blind and gold tooling. The fall supported by matching leather straps with copper fittings. Flanked by alcoves and square top stands, the base with an under tier. The whole with elaborate stylized floral marquetry of fruitwoods and copper. The brass hinges, pulls and lock-plates with finely detailed floral ornaments. Bearing ivorine labels for Hamptons & Sons of Pall Mall, London, and impressed Reg numbers. Hamptons & Sons were known for their fashionable and high quality furniture, available in all styles from historical to modern.
