French - Circa 1890

A beautiful and nicely sized antique French clock set.
The front of the clock is fretted which allows a glimpse of the pendulum swinging inside the case and the rear door is glazed to allow the movement to be seen. Candelabra have matching bases and urns and have four branch candelabra modelled as entwined foliage. They have a pair of snuffers that sit in the central nozzle when not in use.
The superb dial is enamel on copper, decorated with floral swags delicately painted between the numbers of the dial. Original hands are gilded fretted brass.
The French movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!
Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. There is a small area of repair to the stem of one candelabra, this is hardly noticeable however. The dial is also in excellent condition with no chips or scratches. Candelabra are slightly distorted. The set makes a stunning display as you can see below.
