Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1890s.
The top has a hinged bayonet top requiring a twist and lift to open, the interior of the top retaining it's original cork filling to avoid evaporation of the precious contents.

There are hallmarks to back, front and collar, the full mark is for the highly collectible Chester assay office and the year 1897, the makers mark is rubbed. The underside is stamped "Drummond Sterling".
Excellent condition, measuring 4 1/4" tall x 2 3/4" wide.
