Stunning Antique English Silver Plate & Cranberry Glass Basket - 1881

Description

This is a striking basket, perfect for all sorts of things, nuts, candy, preserves, sugar or perhaps pot-pourri. Made from silver plate, the basket is created from a series of rope loops with a complimentary twisted rope swing handle.

The removable Cranberry glass liner is perfect and without damage, totally original, having been custom made to fit beautifully with the scalloped top matching the top of the rope loops

Made by the finest of silversmith's, Elkington & Co., there is a full mark on the underside with the date letter V for the year 1881, so over 130 years old.

A superb piece in excellent condition and measuring 4 1/4" (6 3/4" to top of handle) tall with a rim diameter of 4 1/4".
