Antique English Horse's Hoof Table Vesta by Asprey of Bond Street, London C.1890

Description

A charming Victorian horse's hoof table vesta mounted with the most exquisite brass mounts, fabulous detailing looking like real hair.

This would have belonged to a very wealthy lady or gentleman having been created by the exclusive luxury retailer, Asprey of Bond Street, once the lid is opened the retailer's signature can be seen: Asprey & Son, 166 New Bond St., London.

The lid fits extremely well with a flush hinge and once opened the strike can be found on the underside, to strike the (non-safety) match which would have been stored within.

The top of the lid retains the original engraving, a charming name, "Punch". The underside is fitted with a solid cast brass horseshoe.

Excellent condition, measuring 5" x 5 1/2" x 3" tall.
