Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1900s.
The hefty piece of glass is in undamaged condition (normal fine scratches to the underside, desirable natural wear) and is mounted with this very smart, decorative pierced or reticulated sterling silver overlay with scrolls, floral and foliate overlay flowing over the shoulders. The hinged lid too has a complimentary design.

The interior reveals a removable glass liner, making it easy to clean and refill.
The silver is hallmarked (slightly rubbed on collar) for Birmingham 1902, making it 110 years old. The makers initials can be made out A.W.P. for Arthur Willmore Pennington. Excellent condition, measuring 2 1/2" square and standing 3 1/4" tall.
