Description

A pristine example of an antique toothpick box dating to around 1770 with provenance dated 1788.

So wonderful to find that a charming piece like this has been cherished by a family and the paper which is attached to the interior of the lid reads "J.J. Weatherall - Died 15th July 1788".

The tortoiseshell is perfect as is the sterling silver push button and catch, the hinge and the highly decorative pique inlay together with a vacant cartouche to the top.

Simply wonderful, measuring 2 3/4" x 1/2" x 3/8" to top of domed lid.
