Antique English Walnut Expanding Book Slide - Brass Mounted C.1860

Description

A very handsome example of an expanding book rack or holder, known as a bookslide and dating to around 1860 / 1880, Victorian in era.

This set is decorated with quality brass mounts attached with tiny brass screws, a true sign of quality.

The opening for books measures 12 3/4`" expanding to 20 1/4" while fully opened. The underside retains it's original deep amethyst coloured velvet.

Excellent condition, the footprint while closed measuring 14" x 5 3/4".
