This process first developed by the French cabinetmaker, André-Charles Boulle (11 November 1642 – 28 February 1732, highly popular in nineteenth century Britain.

This picture frame has an upright or portrait configuration, always very popular, the sides too inlaid with a fine brass line inlay. The wooden easel back sliding open to change the picture within.
Signed by the top-flight retailer, "J.C. Vickery,Regent St. W1" (London). John Collard Vickery was honored with Royal Warrants of HM the King, HM the Queen, HM Queen Alexandra, TRH the Prince and Princess of Wales, HM the King of Portugal, HM the King of Spain, TM the King and Queen of Denmark, HM the Queen of Norway, HM the King of Sweden and the Prince and Princess Christian of Schleswig Holstein.
Superb condition, measuring 7" x 5 1/2" with the glazed aperture measuring 5 1/2" x 3 3/4".
